I have just a few updates this week.
- Solar Marine bot is now available on Telegram!
We need more notification platforms for redundancy and service stability. I don’t want to rely on a single X account because if shit hits the fan (like X downtime, account issues, X API access problems), there are no notifications.- If you have Telegram, you can join the channel with the link: https://t.me/+_CRGS10yREEwNmZk
- Telegram channels have increased privacy compared to X: other channel subscribers don’t know you’re there (the CJ team can’t track you down).
- There are now new releases and restock notifications (sold-out notifications coming later).
- You can use both X and Telegram notifications simultaneously for double ping or use different apps on different devices, for example, if you don’t want X on your phone.
- Remember that you can change the notification sound for this channel to stand out from other notifications!
- If you’re new to Telegram channels, they are different from chat groups and are basically announcement/news channels only.
- I’ve removed links (and, therefore, embedded pictures) from “sold out” notifications on X. I think that makes it easier to tell them apart from restock notifications. As per poll results, “sold out” notifications are here to stay (as long as they work well).
- I made some under-the-hood improvements that help me with bot development and operations, like improved logging, easier configuration on the fly, and reduced disk space usage by 95% (!). You won’t be able to see any of that, but I just wanted to let you know I’m serious about this project in the long run.
- Danny mostly stopped adding dummy/bogus products to the site shortly after he restarted official notifications. To me, this is just another circumstantial evidence that unofficial notifications from Solar Marine were the main reason for dummy products, not any “DDoS,” traffic to the site, or bots that place orders in the store.
- I’ve been blocked by @smartdoll on X on both SolarMarineX account and my main account (Vega Starlight). I’ve also been blocked by Danny on Instagram.
- Coffee skin tone drop notifications on Oct 1 went well; they were sent out under 60 seconds from the website coming back. Considering that Coffee Divergence sold out in around 50 minutes, that’s plenty fast for now. If we ever get under 5 minutes sold-outs again, like with some dolls in the past, I will look into closing the gap further.
- I’d like to know what you are interested most at the moment:
- Publicly available integration with Discord
- Notifications somewhere else than X, Discord, or Telegram (where?)
- Tracking inventory quantities of available items (actual number of items left in stock)
- Anything else?
